Installation

How to download and install Yapper on your Mac

Installing Yapper takes just a few minutes. Here’s how to get started.

Download Yapper

  1. Visit the Yapper website
  2. Click the Download button
  3. The download will start automatically

The downloaded file will be named something like Yapper.dmg and appear in your Downloads folder.

Install the App

  1. Open the DMG file — Double-click Yapper.dmg in your Downloads folder
  2. Drag to Applications — Drag the Yapper icon to the Applications folder shortcut
  3. Eject the disk image — Right-click the Yapper disk on your desktop and select “Eject”

First Launch

  1. Open your Applications folder
  2. Double-click Yapper to launch it
  3. If you see a security warning, see the section below

Security Warning on First Launch

macOS may show a warning saying Yapper “can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.” This is normal for apps downloaded outside the Mac App Store.

To open Yapper:

  1. Click Cancel on the warning dialog
  2. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security
  3. Scroll down to find the message about Yapper being blocked
  4. Click Open Anyway
  5. Enter your password if prompted
  6. Click Open in the confirmation dialog

You only need to do this once. After that, Yapper will open normally.

Where Yapper Appears

Unlike most apps, Yapper doesn’t appear in your Dock. Instead, look for the Yapper icon in your menu bar at the top of your screen. This is where you’ll access all of Yapper’s features.

Free Trial and License

On first launch, Yapper automatically starts a 7-day free trial — all features are fully available with no restrictions. A toast notification confirms when your trial begins.

When you’re ready to purchase (during or after the trial):

  1. Get a license from the Yapper website
  2. Open Settings → Preferences → License
  3. Click Activate License (or I Already Have a License if your trial has expired)
  4. Enter your license key and click Activate

What’s Next

After installation, you’ll need to grant permissions for Microphone and Accessibility access before you can start dictating.

Uninstalling Yapper

If you ever need to remove Yapper:

  1. Quit Yapper (click the menu bar icon and select Quit Yapper)
  2. Open your Applications folder
  3. Drag Yapper to the Trash
  4. To remove settings and data, also delete:
    • ~/Library/Application Support/Yapper/
    • ~/Library/Preferences/com.yapper.app.plist

To access the Library folder, open Finder, hold Option, and click Go → Library in the menu bar.
